Preparing your logo: file format, lines and resolution

Updated 5 November 2026

Women's knitted jacket with softshell

In short

Ideally, send us a vector file (SVG, AI, EPS or PDF). A PNG or JPG works too if it is large enough: for print, at least 200 dpi at the chosen size. For embroidery, lines should be at least 0.9 mm thick.

The right file formats

  • Vector (SVG, AI, EPS, PDF): can be enlarged at will and stays sharp – the best choice.
  • PNG with a transparent background: good for print if the resolution is high enough.
  • JPG: possible – the white background can be removed in the shop if you wish.

Typical problems and solutions

  • Fine lettering in the logo: choose a larger size or go for DTF print.
  • Dark logo on dark fabric: choose a light version of the logo or a lighter fabric colour.
  • Small image from the internet: better ask your designer for the original file.

Lines too fine for embroidery

✕ Avoid

ATELIER
Fine lines, small text: they get lost in the fabric

✓ Ideal

ATELIER
Bold lines, larger text: clean embroidery
  • Lines at least 0.9 mm thick at the embroidered size.
  • Leave out fine outlines and very small text – or choose a larger logo.
  • Fine details stay sharp in DTF print.

Image too small for a sharp print

✕ Avoid

Small image enlarged: blurry and jagged

✓ Ideal

ATELIER
Vector file or large image: sharp
  • Best of all: the original file as SVG, AI, EPS or PDF.
  • Otherwise a PNG or JPG at least 800 pixels wide for 10 cm (200 dpi).
  • No screenshots and no images taken from websites or social media.

Logo barely visible on this colour

✕ Avoid

ATELIER
Dark logo on dark fabric

✓ Ideal

ATELIER
Light version of the logo: easy to read
  • On dark fabric, choose a light version of the logo (white, for example).
  • On light fabric, a dark version.
  • No light version? We will adjust the colour – just say so in the note.

Gradients and too many colours for embroidery

✕ Avoid

ATELIER
Gradients, shadows, many colours

✓ Ideal

ATELIER
Solid colours, few shades: can be embroidered
  • Only solid colours can be embroidered: up to 4 at the normal price, 5 to 6 with a surcharge.
  • Gradients, shadows and photos: choose DTF print.
  • Ask your designer for a version of your logo in solid colours.

And if it still isn’t right?

We check every file before production. Before we start, you receive a proof by email – production only begins once you have approved it.
